Award Winning Training at the Royal
The Royal Hotel, Ventnor scooped two prestigious awards at the HTP Awards Ceremony.
The Royal Hotel won HTP Employer of the Year 2009-10 and Sam Bonner, one of their apprentices, won HTP Apprentice of the Year 2009-2010.
'We are extremely proud of Sam,' says William Bailey owner of The Royal. 'The Royal has very high standards and has held two AA rosettes over 15 consecutive years – this is a very high pressured environment and Sam has demonstrated he has the talent and dedication to have a great career in the hotel industry.'
HTP is recognised as the one of the best training providers in the country, so The Royal was delighted to receive HTP Employer of the Year. Executive Head Chef, Alan Staley was there to accept the award.
Alan recalls training under Anton Edelmann at the Savoy Hotel, 'Chef Edelmann is the type of person who is used to being obeyed!' says Alan 'It was a great start to my career - he taught me about standards and discipline and really inspired me. I also learnt to appreciate the importance of nurturing new young talent.’ Alan is passionate about training young people and has helped train some of the best chefs on the island. ‘It’s great working with HTP as the really care about developing the careers of young islanders and we are very honoured to receive this award.'

Chef de Partie
The successful applicant for the role of Chef de Partie will be experienced, passionate and enthusiastic about food. This is an important job in the island's premier AA four star hotel - you will be capable of running your own section and have great food knowledge. Ideally you will have considerable experience working in a Rosette standard kitchen. The menu’s are modern British featuring many local and artisan suppliers. Live-in accommodation available.
