Places of Interest on the Isle of Wight

English Heritage

Osborne House
It’s no surprise that Osborne House was Queen Victoria’s favourite retreat. Set in magnificent grounds overlooking the Solent, this beautiful stately home promises a fantastic day out. Trace the footsteps of one of Britain’s most popular monarchs as you wander through the Italianate terrace gardens, and marvel at the sumptuous interiors and furnishings.

Carisbrooke Castle
With its keep, battlements and working well house, Carisbrooke Castle is an exciting site for the whole family to explore. There has been a fortress here since at least Saxon times, but the present castle was built on this site in c. 1100, when the island was granted to the de Redvers family.
